![]() Do note that you can also use the “new value is = old value” searches. Both of those are 1 byte memory addresses, so you’ll first attempt the comparative search with a 1 byte size and if it fails – you’ll try with increasing sizes.ģ) In these kinds of searches youu’ll usually need to do quite a couple of filtering searches. However, in situations such as these, memories are usually saved as booleans, or as flags. Choosing a memory size for unknown values is trickier because they’re, well, unknown. What we want to do is make that value always be in the “invulnerable” state.ġ) First thing you do is get hit in the game, to have the invulnerability flashing on.Ģ) Begin a search. What happens behind the scenes of the game is that when you get hit, some address is set to some value that tells the game that right now, your character is invulnerable. Let’s assume you’re playing a game in which after your character is hit, he flashes for three seconds during which he is invulnerable. if you find yourself stuck, play better next time, and you won't have to replace as many pokemon.Example : Modifying An Unknown Value Via Comparative Searches Whether or not you grind is all up to the player. ![]() you can argue that it's not a fun challenge, or that it's too challenging, but i don't see how you could argue that the challenge itself is forcing you to grind. if your last pokemon is a level 2 ratatta, then the game is just really hard at that point. ![]() it just gets harder the more pokemon you lose. My point here is: there's no defined line where you'll suddenly have to grind. lose 2? you still won't have to grind, but you'll probably struggle a bit more. what if you lost only 1 pokemon? in that case, you could replace it along the way & not have to grind. If you're good enough, you could complete a game without losing any pokemon-no grinding required. they'll generally be at a decent enough level, and will catch up to the rest of the team if you keep them in front / use the exp share on them. no, you shouldn't try to use that level 2 ratatta if you just lost to brock, just use the pokemon you get on later routes. Don't waste time grinding when you could spend the time actually improving at the game.ĮDIT: just saw your edit, sorry, i wasn't trying to be rude! play how you like, this is just what i think about the matter.įaints are very punishing, but it's absolutely possible. If cheating rare candies in makes the game too easy, then you need to give yourself harder rules. The pride of winning a locke should come from the fact that you beat the games gyms, rivals, and champion with pokemon you wouldn't normally use and limited tries. You don't need to waste time grinding if you don't want to, that isn't the impressive part of a nuzlocke. To anyone reading this, don't reply to me saying "reducing grind devalues the nuzlocke," have more respect for yourself than that. Anything I can do to fix that bug/other ways to get rare candies into the game? This is for Heart Gold.ĮDIT: Alright, I figured it out myself, no thanks to the people who replied (except one guy who was nice). Trying to use rare candies to get rid of grind in my nuzlocke, the only thing I can find to get them is an AR code that, when I tried to use it, deleted all the other medicines in my bag and prevented me from buying the medicine again (or at least I couldn't see it or use it in my bag).
