Failure to perform the job correctly can result in personal injury or. Some say that cummins repaired them under warranty anytime before 500,000 miles(mine has 390,000), others say that cummins told em to go fly a kite. WARNING: Always use the proper tools and safety equipment to perform this job. I have spent some time on the internet researching this situation and have seen several cases where the cause of this problem turns out to be dropped cylinder liners caused by to little liner protrusion when the engine was built. They have now told me i need a head gasket for the sum of 5900.00, and they warned me that there will probably be other hard parts that need replacing(cyl liners, bearings, etc). They pulled the egr cooler and pressure tested it and it passed, so they reinstalled the cooler. I took the truck to the local cummins dealer and had them check it out, and they came back with a failed "exhaust in coolant" test, and claimed it would either be the egr cooler, or engine internals. recommends the use of fully-formulated antifreeze or coolant containing a precharge of supplemental coolant additive (SCA) for the ISX15 CM2350 X101. They then replaced the turbo, turbo actuator, and coolant overflow tank and both radiator caps, to no avail. I have removed the overflow tank and cleaned it out but after a couple times of use the coolant is back to the dark. ![]() It seems to be getting worse as the coolant is turning a darker color all the time. This can seem innocent enough but the problem will compound over time and it’s often difficult to diagnose. I have a 2008 Kenworth T800 with a 475 ISX Cummins that is getting motor oil into the coolant system. On the ISX the culprit is often a leaky EGR valve. Peterbilt tested the headgasket(so they say), the egr cooler, and the air compressor, all checked o.k.(according to them). EGR Valve Leaks Like many other engines with an EGR, the Cummins ISX is prone to typical EGR problems. X15 CM2350 X116B X15 CM2350X114B Issue Symptom: Fuel in coolant system Coolant in fuel system Fault Code 418 (water-in-fuel indicator) Pressurized cooling systemRoot Cause: Shrinkage of injector sleeve seal material can create a leak path between cylinder head cooling jacket and injector bore. The truck runs fine, never overheats, no other issues, except it pushes coolant out of the overflow bottle on hard pulls. ![]() So i just bought this 2010KW with an ISX550 engine, and the peterbilt dealer where i bought it has been chasing a coolant loss problem for three weeks.
